In a striking reversal, the prestigious JAMA Pediatrics journal has retracted a controversial 2023 paper that significantly underestimated the incidence of long COVID in children. The research letter, authored by a team from the University of Alberta in Canada, had claimed the condition was "strikingly low" in young patients, occurring in just 0.4% of cases. "In correcting these errors, we found that pre–COVID-19 headache, fever, and fatigue were associated with post–COVID-19 symptoms of the same.
